Caffeine Free

Caffeine in tea comes from real tea leaves only, so all fruit, flower, spice blends are caffeine-free, and you can’t really call them tea. So next time when your friends ask you for a cup of peppermint tea or chamomile tea, you know how to correct them.

While many tea drinkers are in search of a caffeinated boost with their tea, others simply want to enjoy a warm, flavourful drink without the extra buzz. For those who are sensitive to caffeine or just want to have a cup of tea that won't keep them up late past their bedtime, caffeine-free tea is the way to go!
Drinking non-caffeinated tea can create just as enjoyable an experience as drinking a caffeinated beverage. However, caffeine-free tea is actually not made from tea leaves. Because of the nature of caffeine-free tea, non-caffeinated tea flavours such as Chamomile or other fruit, flower, or spice blends are called tea in name only.

    Caffeine-Free Green Tea

So, if tea leaves are not naturally caffeine-free, how does caffeine-free green tea exist? Well, in order to produce non-caffeinated green tea, the tea leaves are soaked in a solution that decaffeinates the tea. This process can be executed in two ways: either directly or indirectly.
The tea leaves are soaked in the solution in direct decaffeination, and the caffeine is removed. During indirect decaffeination, the solution is combined with water which the tea leaves are then soaked in.

    Caffeine-Free Herbal Tea

On the other end of the scale, there's caffeine-free herbal tea. Because herbal tea is not actually made from tea leaves, it does not naturally contain caffeine (and therefore does not need to go through a decaffeination process).
Herbal teas can be made from flowers, the leaves of other plants, seeds, or even roots. The herbaceous flavours are markedly bold and easily identifiable. Popular caffeine-free herbal tea includes peppermint tea, turmeric tea, and Chamomile.
